(It shoud be done humanely so that the dog does not suffer.) However, if not legal where you live to shoot your dog (i.e., if you live in a urban or suburban environment rather than on a farm) then it's time to take him to the vet and have him put to sleep. In any case, a potentially violent dog is not worth having.
